Faith is not a straight road. It is a winding path of trust, surrender, and resilience in God. It does not promise a life without trials, but it does guarantee strength in the midst of them. As the Word of God reminds us: “The righteous will live by faith” (Romans 1:17). My own journey began early in life, and it has remained my anchor through solitude, challenges, and divine purpose.
In 1975, at just ten years old, I gave my life to Christ. Looking back, I see how unusual that decision was for a child in my environment. Growing up, alcohol was present in many households. By the time my siblings were ten, some had already tasted ‘muratina’. Yet, by God’s grace, I made a deliberate choice—I would not drink. Instead, I devoted myself to church life.
My father, however, saw my choices differently. To him, my devotion looked like rebellion, even weakness. He believed I was rejecting what “a real African man” should be. From then on, there was a distance between us, a silence that weighed heavily on my heart. But in that space of rejection, I found a deeper relationship with my heavenly Father.
Faith Refined In Solitude
Solitude is never easy. It feels like rejection, especially when it comes from those you love—or even from fellow believers. I lost friends. Support turned into criticism. Many could not understand my convictions because my life quietly revealed what they were unwilling to surrender.
Yet in that loneliness, I discovered strength. My faith was not built on emotions or approval but on God’s unshakable truth. Like Abraham, who “did not waver through unbelief,” I learned to trust God’s purpose over my own comfort. Solitude became my training ground, preparing me for the calling ahead.
Child of God, if you find yourself walking a lonely road, take courage. Your solitude is not wasted. It is holy ground where God is shaping you, deepening your roots, and preparing you for His greater purpose. I am living proof that what begins as rejection can become the very soil where faith grows strongest.
So hold firmly to your faith. For though the journey may be hidden and lonely at times, victory is already secured in Christ. In those quiet seasons—when applause, validation, or companionship are missing—God uses solitude to strengthen and purify your faith, making it unshakable and deeply rooted in Him alone.
May the Lord help you to walk faithfully with Him, even when the road feels lonely. May He strengthen you when you are misunderstood, give you courage to stand firm in your convictions, and grace to remain anchored in Christ. May He deepen your roots in faith and prepare you for the purpose He has set before you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
